Indeed Sue! It has been pointed out that this flooding doesn't measure up to similar situations in third world countries where there is no infastructure to deal with such a thing and people aren't insured. That doesn't make it any less heartbreaking for the people involved though, especially when people still haven't been seen to this long after it happened. What's the use of insurance when the insurance companies don't have the means to sort this out quickly?

Jeanette I agree the government should be doing something. Its just that these so called celebrities are quick enough to organise such things for causes abroad. Why can't they do so for our own.

I put up a similar thread yesterday Star...I'll give it a nudge. I'm just outside Hull myself and I did say I thought there would be many other places around the country in the same state. Sue....why should Bob Geldof and his cronies raise money? The government should be doing something.

Hull the forgotten city... My cousin, in the midlands, has been flooded out of her home, she and her family are now living in a hotel, lucky for her, her Mom is looking after her dog until she can go back home. They have been allowed £5 each for what food, etc, that they need...£5 a day and her children are starving. Where is the help from the Goverment? It seems to me that the Government is more concerned with helping overseas people with billions of money going there and rebuilding Iraq, rather than helping their own people when our people are in need. And what's the betting that Bush never did help rebuild New Orleans...What do we pay our taxes for...? Their own big fat bulging greedy wallets.
