How do you clean unpolished wood? (pine)

Thanks both. Hadn't heard of wire wool, but will go to the market and look. Never thought about polish being a sealant, doh! Oops. |

Hi Romany, firstly you have put polish on it which acts as a seal against any cleaning. You said that it was originally unfinished pine.? if so, try using wire wool with some methylated spirit. go with the grain of the wood not across the grain and don't be too heavy handed. good luck |

Im selling a pine fire surround, it has watermarks on the top due to cups and glasses being put down on it. Ive tried using polish, but theyre still there. Would water just aggravate it and make it look worse? |
