Hi, I went to the Sir John Franklin school in spilsby. There's a statue of him and a little passage called Franklin's Passage. Our house teams were Erebus, Tasman and Resolute. Thrilling for you tracing your relative. Lorrainex

Just seen a smashing history lesson on channel 5 about Sir John Franklin's expedition to find the North West passage, What made it intriguing was that my 5x grt grandfather Joseph Wood ,a mariner from Heybridge Basin Essex was a sailor on H.M ship Enterprise that was one of the ships that went looking for him. I have Joseph Woods death cert he died 23rd July 1855 In Heybridge from inflammation of the Windpipe . aged 52 and it clearly states he was a sailor on that ship. What a history lesson and how great to see where he had sailed. Shirely
