Boy dies when tree falls on group A 10-year-old boy was killed and three other children injured when a tree fell onto them at a National Trust property. Ambulance crews were called to the 17th Century country house Felbrigg Hall, near Cromer, Norfolk at about 1500 BST. Three of the children, who were on a school trip, were taken to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with back and leg injuries. They are believed to be from a school in Colchester, Essex. Felbrigg Hall is very popular for school trips. It features lakes, gardens and parkland. A Norfolk Police spokesman said officers had been at the scene and were carrying out an investigation. He said next of kin have been informed.

This is so tragic, I suppose the tree might have been rendered unsafe because of the heavy wind and rain. How dreadfully sad for the lad and his family, and all on the trip with him must be so upset. Carol, Jim and her dad are holidaying in Norfolk and when I spoke to her today she said last night in the caravan was dreadful, she thought the wind was going to topple it and the seas are really rough and foamy. She is a bit further round the coast from Cromer. Will be meeting with them tomorrow pm and another member of the board too.

I saw the report on BBC Look East, it made me go cold. The poor family, my heart goes out to them. I hope the injured children recover quickly. There are some frightening things happening, caused probably by the extreme weather. Please, everyone, take good care. Tina x

Good evening, Liz, That poor family's worst nightmare came true for them. I was always on tenterhooks when my two were off on a school trip. I do hope the weather doesn't spoil your day, whatever it does. Have a lovely time. How is your shoulder now? Jo

Hi Jo, just pmd you. The shoulder isn't so bad but I had a really bad headache/pain at the side of my head all evening, only just gone, I know it is tension and stress, which makes the fm worse too. But what are my problems compared to that lad's family and the other children injured and in hospital, two boys and a girl, one quite seriously injured. And that poor woman who had a call from her missing hubby to say he was being swept away when he and his car got caught up in the floods. How will she cope with knowing his last minutes were of fear and knowledge he probably wouldn't see his family again? And the look in that lad's eyes as he was trapped in the drain yesterday and the efforts of everyone to save him, all coming to nothing. How will his grandfather cope with the knowledge the lad was trying to help him clear the drain and lost his life? All so sad - I feel for all involved. Liz
