I've always used my own name on here but been thinking about changing it on here recently. I'm in two minds about it because I'd normally expect customers to find me on the Internet by googling my name. But then I'm not on this site to sell anything anyway. Sue

I think the Miss Marples is way off beam. What people ought to avoid is giving away lots of personal detail. It is the detail which matters not the name. I have seen in GR trees full details of living people including their jobs details and place of work. In some cases that is public domain any way but ther is no point in making things extra easy! A lot of people have been doing a lot of shouting on these boards and much of it is misinformed. They quote the Data Protection Act but clearly have never read it. I have no idea where this paranoia has come from but it is out of hand. Remember that thread a week or so ago about the uncle who had returned and said how horriuble things weere now with so many you can't do thats ? Included was a story of photographing kids playing in a public park. Clive

Went over to read it. It's always been said on here not to give away too much information about private life. I was a bit disturbed though when I read about prisoners taking up Genealogy,hope they pay to use Ancestry like we do lol Mau xx

thanks for that its good to be reminded that there are a few database collectors about, and that information could get in the wrong hands. xx
