Help required re entering info on tree.

Could someone help me with this problem please. When entering info you sometimes know the name of a relative/ancestor but not necessarily the year or place of birth or sometimes even the full name. I have tried to enter a record with just the info that I have rather than not referring to the person at all, but the site seems to insist on certain info and if I don't have it I have to leave off that person altogether. Now I have been allowed access to some other trees and notice that there are times when the y.o.b. is not always shown or even the surname not shown. My question is 'How do some people get around this problem?' I have people who I can't put on my tree because I don't have all the info on them. Lynn x |

With the surnames and first names, just type (Unknown) in both boxes. With the date put in estimate of what you think it is then click the circ box, failing that just type 0 then tick the circa box. Nicola |

Lesley, Soi is that the way to do it? just seems strange that GR would rather you leave someone off if you can't supply all the relevant details. Lynn x |
