Hiya Kaye, Whatever the feelings towards the parents, either abroad or here, at the end of the day, it's Maddie that I am concerned about. I don't mean that to sound nasty in any way, as I myself have questioned certain things to do with the parents, the police etc etc.. for now, I only want Maddie to be found, and preferably alive. But, if the worst comes to the worst, and she is dead, then let the poor mite be found, so that she can rest in peace. LLx |

Maddie: Two held for extortion 28/06/2007 21:28 - (SA) Madrid - An Italian man and a Portuguese woman have been arrested in Spain for allegedly trying to extort money from the parents of missing British four-year-old Madeleine McCann, the interior ministry said on Thursday. 'Police started to investigate after learning they got in touch with Madeleine's parents ... to collect a reward. 'The facts point to fraudsters although the police investigation has not yet run its course,' the ministry said in a statement. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thief sends back Maddie picturesJun 29 2007 by Homa Khaleeli, Liverpool Echo STOLEN pictures of Madeleine McCann have been returned to her grateful family. A pickpocket stole dad Gerry’s wallet during a visit to London for a meeting last month, including precious photos of his missing daughter. But the pictures, along with credit cards, were posted to a family address after conscience apparently got the better of the thief. The boost to the McCanns came as the first arrests were made in the Madeleine investigation – an Italian man and a Portuguese woman were seized on suspicion of attempted extortion. Madeliene’s grandmother Susan Healy, from Mossley Hill, said: “We are really pleased. Short of getting Madeleine back, it’s one good thing to have happened. “The pictures were posted back to an old address of Gerry’s which was in his wallet and my brother picked them up this morning. “They were a couple of his favourite pictures and were very personal, I think they were from when she was about 17 months old.” Mr McCann picked up the pictures after flying in to Gatwick airport to interview candidates for the role of campaign manager. Mrs Healy said: “It’s good the thief had a heart.” It is 56 days since Maddie was snatched from her bed as she slept in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz. ~~~~~~~ Police in Madrid confirmed that they had seized a couple after a tip from counterparts in France. It is believed the Italian man and his Portuguese girlfriend, who were picked up near the city of Algeciras in southern Spain, were trying to claim massive rewards with false information about Madeleine’s whereabouts. Madeleine disappeared on May 3 after her parents left her and her brother and sister, two-year-old twins, alone in their room while they went to a restaurant inside their hotel complex. |

Thanks for that Chris. Didn't know if it was to do with couple being seen with Maddie, Maddie being found or what. As I have said before (and I don't think I am alone) my feelings are up and down. Just as I think there is no hope of finding her alive, something pops up in the news that builds my hopes up, usually to have them dashed again. If I feel like this, God knows what emotions her parents must be going through. LLx |

Understand that people are blaming the parents etc. I have said this before on this very sad subject...Can anyone honestly put their hand on their heart and say they have never left their child, even for a few mins. For example.....Child in bath, phone rings, door bell goes.....on return to the bath room little George is ok, but an accident could have happened. It is a beautiful day, you chat to the neighbour over the fence, little George climbs throught the open living room window.....Now you were in the house all the time and still something awfull could have happened. I do remember, many years ago one of my children were having an afternoon nap and I popped along to the corner shop, and it was only 50 yards away. Someone could have seen me go, someone could have taken my child, fortunateley someone did`nt. I think 'There but for the Grace of God go an awful lot of parents.' Lets leave any recriminations out of it, the parents are in a living hell at the moment the last thing they need is fingers pointed at them. May God allow this child to be returned to her home, safe and well. kathlyn |

i can put my hand on my heart and say i have never left my chlid alone at home. if someone knocked or phoned when child was in the bath they would have to wait and call back i would never leave a child in the bath alone for 2 minutes let alone in its room for hours on end . so i can say i Have never left them at all Not ever Rosex |

I THINK I WAS , a very careful mother... I hope I never put my children in danger..... BUT perhaps I was just lucky?? Mine are all grown, healthy and happy (I hope) so I have been lucky that no idiot ever put me through the horror that that poor family have had to suffer. Pointing fingers does NOTHING to help at this stage of the game. I just hope and pray that whoever has that beautiful child, is loving her and not hurting her. It does not excuse what they have done by taking her away.... but we have to have hope. Deanna X |
