Kite Racing in Afghanistan

From the Save the Children web site : 'There is limited access to quality health care throughout the country. For every 1,000 Afghan children born, 165 die within the first year, and one quarter of all Afghan children die before their fifth birthdays – the vast majority from preventable diseases. ' Gerry McCann has organised Kite racing in Afghanistan tomorrow to raise awareness of his family's plight. Does this sit uncomfortably with anyone else??

Just spotted your message and have to say, yes it does. Any form of celebrity media hype makes me feel uncomfortable. There is also the kite-racing thing. Hadn't it been banned in Afghanistan? I could be wrong, but I'm sure I read that it was because people, mainly children, had been injured by glass-reinforced kite strings.
