Thank you for your posts and your Pms on this subject. You may be interested to know that the fors and againsts are about equal, but some of the against stories are horrific, so I think I'll stay as I am. Thanks for your input as always. Sheila |

Kem'p - that's better than my doc ... he told me I was making it up! I managed to convince him in the end and he gave me Buscopan, which is anti spasmodic, and that seemed to help. It's worn off now though as I said. Oh yes, and having it put in was horrible :-( Maz. XX |

I get that pain in my leg when they put it in ONLY...but as you say it goes of after a while ...I asked what it was the doctor said the womb moves a bit and the coil lays on a nerve some time ......never known it not to settle |

Hi Sheila, 2 friends have them, neither have had any problems. One of those friends is on her 2nd one. I have one - had problems at first where I had terrible pains in the tops of my legs when I was on, but that has subsided now. Doc told me he won't remove it 'because of your age' and it may as well just stay there!!! Doc has now retired, so I will get a 2nd opinion on that! Wouldn't want to get caught (if I ever get the opportunity lol) unexpectedly! Maz. XX |

I have had Mirena coils twice, just had new one fitted, I have tilted womb so have to have it done in hospital, once it's in you don't know it's there and it lasts for 5 years, it is uncomfortable to have fitted in ~ but I have had no side effects with it at all and I'm no good with pills or anything as they make me sick and/or depressed, I would thoroughly recommend it. Good luck whatever you choose. (((HUGS))) ~ Stella X |

I have seen a consultant at the hospital this morning and this is the route she has recommended for me. She has sent me away to think about it, but I am concerned about the hormonal aspect as I have had difficulties with synthetic hormones before and added to that in recent years I have developed multiple allergies. Has anyone had a Mirena and could PM me with their experiences, good or bad, so I can try to make a decision? Not sure this is necessarily a topic for the board... Thanks Sheila |
