Anyone ever made it and which recipe did you use - between my cook books and internet am confused! Have a bumper crop off our 20yr old tree. Am freezing a lot but thought I would try jam - make a change from all the strawberry I made last week! |

Ok chris recipe for cherry jam.... 51b of cherries (adjust this to the amount you want) (stone the cherries) 31b of jam sugar 1 1/2 pint of water. Add cherries to heavy based pan with abt a pint of water cook over low heat for abt 30 mins stirring at times till soft add the sugar stir till completley dissolved boil for abt another 20mins until setting point is reached, if not boil rapidly for another 15 mins or so, to test for a set remove from heat and put a teaspoon of jam on a saucer let it cool if it wrinkles when pressed it has reached setting point. if not return to boil for another 5mins or so and repeat the process. good luck Sharmala. |

Made a small amount - did not wish to ruin all of the cherries and seems to be a success. OH otherwise known as chief taster - says it is good and the three jars appear to be setting well. So hi ho now for the next and larger batch! Thanks everyone for their help. |
