Julie........its tastes just like the toffee in Dime Bars.......Happy Birthday btw. Daff...know what to mean about the E nos, just said to hubby the same....lol Tina.....dont know if it keeps, the way Alex is eating it I wont find out......lol, remind me and i'll make some for the next meet. |

i make toffee sause for ice cream when i do it i have to make pints of the stuff for my kids their familys the foster kids and their familys and my neighbours if i only make it for us they all sulk |

Just for Angela......and anyone else to wants to make it....... 1/2 lb butter ½ lb sugar 2 level tablespoons vineger 2 level tablespoons golden syrup Use a heavy pan, not too small, as the mixture froths a little. 1. Place butter in pan over heat to begin melting. Add rest of ingredients stir until sugar is melted. 2. Bring to the boil and boil briskly stirring very occasionally until mixture turns golden brown. 3. Pour into a greased shallow tin ( 7inch square is a suitable size. 4. Mark into squares before quite set. It will break more easily. |

Hi Suzy, my mum used to be a whizz at making sweets and such, maybe that's why I have such a sweet tooth now and have turned into the same shape as Mum lol She used to make coconut ice and coconut pyramids, toffee and toffee apples, and fudge too. I think I have her recipe book somewhere. Your toffee recipe sounds familiar. LIz |

Hi Suzy This toffee recipe was a favourite in our house, we used to put it into greased patty tins (sometimes with a lolly stick) Scotch tablet was also made a lot Mau :O) |
