Nanna Gaynor (June nr Preston's Daughter) Report 29 Apr 2007 11:18

Our Internet Provider was Telewest which, I believe is now Virgin. Since the change over our connection has been appalling... This is what happens.. WEEK DAYS - No problem at all in the morning WEEK DAYS - No problem at lunchtime or afternoon WEEK DAYS - Very very slow in the evening from tea-time onwards (so slow it's impossible to use) WEEKENDS - No problem in a morning until about 10 -11 am WEEKENDS - Very very slow from 10 -11 onwards (occasionally ok during the day but impossible in the evenings) We have phoned them but they say there is nothing wrong with our connection but it happens on both our pc's so it can't be the computers. Is anyone else experiencing similar problems? And Have you managed to sort it out? If so what did you do? Please. We are fed up with them too because when we said we wanted to end the contract they said we had to stay with them for 12 months. The story being that before Mum died it was in her name and of course afterwards we had to transfer it into our name. No changes to package and they didn't need to do anything to the box or externally, literally just transferred the name over and according to them it's a new contract. Well all I can say is that come July / August time we will be finding some else. Gaynor

there was no TV connection on Friday evening / I often retire to bed at abt 10 and watch TV, each programme came up as unavailable try later. i rebooted the set but nothing. Am cutting off the TV on 7th may and just leaving the phone and internet with em . am going Sky HD cos we have just bought a super duper new Telly and having multiroom set up so Sky is in bedroom too. What a performance tho from Virgin to get the cutoff. they promised all sorts of incentives to stay , even offered a FREE HD box. what they didnt say tho was THEY dont broadcast HD programmes!! Well, we have had so many problems we have switched to Sky for TV, Broadband and telephone servies. We were two weeks almost with Sky and NOT receiving calls from family and friends who were with Telewest/Virgin and the problem was that TW hadn't transferred the code or whatever it is to complete the transition properly at the exchange. Once that issue was finally sorted out, no problems but as I say, that was not a Sky issue rather a TW/Virgin one. Before the switch to Sky, our broadband with Virgin was incredibly slow, once the computer was switched on, it took a good ten minutes or more to get going and then we experienced the same problems with you re slow activity. Our Sky package now costs £36 pm for full TV package (loads more than Virgin), Unlimited all day every day free calls to 01 and 02 numbers and the full unlimited broadband package. We also get unlimited calls to 10 international destinations inc USA, Australia, Spain and others. The only other thing you pay on top of that is £11 to BT for line rental. Don't work for Sky and would fully recommend the service which is a fraction of the cost to the (almost) equivalent we paid with Virgin/Telewest. Lyn x
