I have joined her and started with my basic tree....due to family members dying so young very little is known about my family. i have some knowledge of names and places but no d.o.b's etc can anyone help me get started please? I would be so grateful. I am one of six children and i am the one that has been cursed with the family heart problem and my relatives died very early in there lives and i am 31 now and i want to make suure i get as much knowledge down for my families ...just incase...so please can anyone help me? |

The first thing to do is to buy the birth certificates of your parents which will give the names of your grandparents, if you don't know them. You can search the GRO registers of births, marriages and deaths free on ancestry(.)co(.)uk - remove brackets - for the reference then buy the certificates and so on backwards. Gwynne is right, and I would add that with your particular family health problem I would advise you to get as many death certs as you can. Many newbies and indeed oldies(!) don't bother with death certs, but you really need them in your case. Good luck and don't be afraid to ask for help - Tips Board is probably a better place than General, to post particular queries. OC |
