now 8 days old. Bless. Looks like it is going to be like daddy. Peach with brown wings. The down it was covered with is now changing to feathers. Two weeks more and when it can eat by itself I have to put it in another cage and be fed through the bars by dad! Mum may start nesting again so I will give it a bash and see if anything happens and then split them up until the breeding season starts again. What am I saying. Oh my God it is in the genes. My uncle and grandfather were canary breeders. This is getting scary....... anyone want a canary? Aileen xxx |

Yes Joy, Still in shock as I was supposed to have bought two males. Never mind. My grandchildren are fascinated and that is a plus. Have already got the male to sit on my hand for treats and its just a lot of patience as they are very timid but also very intelligent. They can't talk like parrots or budgies but can mimic other birds. I'm so chuffed that one in three eggs hatched. At this rate I can see a bird flight being built in the garden! Better break it gently to hubby!!!!!!!!!!!!! Night. Must away as up at 6am. No rest for the wicked. Aileen xxx Load of tosh. I will them speaking with a Scots accent soon! |
