all things bright and beautiful is our family hymn .we have it at weddings funerals and just about every chance there is to sing it .i do remember that verse from sunday school .i am now going to hunt through all my saved hymn sheets.just to see if and when it was taken off .

It seems that at the time it was written it was aimed at keeping the poorer classes firmly in their place. Guess if you read some of the other hymns they would seem dated now Dee xx

The hymn All Things Bright and Beautiful used to have the verse The rich man in his castle, The poor man at his gate, God made them, high or lowly, And order’d their estate. But it was removed as it is no longer politically correct Do you remember it being included?? Dee xx

To be honest, Dee, I can't remember if we sang it or not but the last time I did sing it was in primary school which is more years ago then I'm going to admit to lol. I can still remember the tune though and it does seem to fit so maybe we did.

Yes, upto at least the early 70s it was in the hymn book, Ancient and Modern, but we never sang that verse. Anne
