Hi, I know this is a tall order, but is there any way of finding details of a WW1 injured? I am aware that millions were injured, but this particular injury resulted in the marriage of my gt Uncle to his Italian nurse. There were no children for me to trace, due to the injuries to his abdomen etc. I am not even sure where he was when he acquired his injuries. The main info I do have concern his DoB, Place of Birth, Date & place of his eventual death 40+ years later. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, Cheers, Chris. |

If your lucky enough his service record may still survive. These are stored at the nationalarchives in Kew. Ancestry are currently uploading the unburnt files or pension files as they are also known on to their website, the only have A - B at the moment but hope to complete by autumn. |

If you go to nationalarchives website you can see the medals list online, this will give you his unit number and then ask national archives if they are holding his records. I did this for my great uncle and they came back with a lot of info on ww1 records, and they gave me prices for them to search his file and send me copies (I can't travel to Kew). It might be worthwhile for you to start there. |
