One of them is going to be wearing the tarmac one of these nights. Every night this week coming home about 10.30ish from tucking my last peep in for the night, I have come across idiots riding bicycles with no lights on the main roads. Some parts are badly lit and someone is going to be seriously injured or killed. It can't be laid solely at the feet of young people being irresponsible . Most of those I have seen have been adults. Hi Aileen! Isn't there a law stating that at night there must be lights on the bike? How are you? Any more funny stories for me? Deb

The majority of cyclists are adults and idiots, they don't wear clothing that makes them visible, they don't bother with proper lights, they don't wear helmets which can reduce the severity of head injuries by 85%, and they sometimes ride along wearing earphones listening to music. They manoevere without signalling and don't keep their bikes in good mechanical order, and then wonder why they get involved in accidents.

I hate cyclists who do not observe the rules of the road. The problem is they don't have to pass a test to use the road and most are unaware that there are rules in the highway code that refer to them and their cycle! If they have ever read it, they haven't taken on board any of the rules!! Plus they don't pay road fund or have a MOT to say their cycle is fit to be ridden on the road, no lights or reflective clothing, but knock one down and who is to blame!! Everyone seems to think the rules of the road only apply to motorists! Nanna-Moo ;-)) (p.s. One of my Sons uses his cycle in London, the thought of it scares me witless!!)

Oooh Aileen you'd just love living here in Cambridge!!! I cycle and drive and not a day goes by without witnessing an incident caused either by bad cycling or bad driving. Sometimes it's like a Mexican stand off! Daisy

I ride my bike to work and last year I bought myself a flourescent jacket and I do have lights on my bike. I get fed up with motorists overtaking me then turning left right in front of me. The last one to do it was wearing a nurses uniform. Thought she would have had more sense.
