The condition responsible for SADS cause cardicac arrest by bringing on a 'verttricular arrhythmia' (a disturbance in the hearts rhythm) even though a person has no structural heart disease. There is a group of relitively rare diseases called ION CHANNELOPATHIES that affect the heart without affecting the Hearts structure. This means they can only be detected in life and not at post mortem. These are probably responsible for 4 in every 10 cases of Sudeen Arrhythmia Death Syndrome. (SADS/CRY) Some signs to watch for. Blackouts Palpitaitons Muscle weakness. |
