Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 25 Apr 2007 00:37

I read about this young woman ages ago and how she was having to take civil action against Huntley. Today I read that it has cost her thousands to do so. Huntley has been ruled insolvent apparently. The Crown Prosecution office has a lot to answer for, in many cases they get things wrong and let guilty people get away with all sorts of crimes. They are rubbish. I know this from personal experience, the CPS chap misunderstood a statement and the person, a teacher of young children, who was seen and heard to do the malicious damage to my car each time she walked past it, was let off with 'no case to answer' purely because the CPS chap misunderstood the statement and asked me a question, which when I answered truthfully but was not allowed to qualify my reply, meant it sounded as tho there was no evidence.

An Olde Crone Report 24 Apr 2007 23:24

I was talking about this to a retired policemen at the time of Huntley's trial. He said that in 'his day' they kept a little list in the back of their notebooks, of men who seemed rather keen on young girls, or who had been reported, but couldnt be prosecuted for lack of evidence. As he said - name in the book once might just be someone being malicious. Name in the book twice and it got written on a list in the police station and they all discussed it. Name in the book three times and they went and got him. This is not allowed now of course, it is against human rights. OC

cariad Report 24 Apr 2007 22:25

I feel so sorry for this girl, firstly she was 11 years old and no one believed her, or helped her. Then imagine what she went through when she saw him on tv talking about holly and jessica, it must have turned her stomach, she must have known straight away it was him that murdered them. She has done the right thing, fighting to make sure he did not get away with the abuse she suffered at his hands. Hope he is never let out. Joy

Little Lost Report 24 Apr 2007 21:58

I live in the same street that Ian Huntley once lived. Dont remember him being here though when we moved in. This girl has said all along the same story. It was reported in our local newspaper as soon as she heard about the 2 girls he murdered. Even then people kept asking why has she come forward. But she did report it to the police at the time she was attacked but it wasnt taken any further.

She did say in an interview on Radio One Newsbeat, that she will receive no money, a confession is what she wanted and has now got. Tina x

If only she had been believed all those years ago, maybe two little girls would still be alive now. How tragic.

Jessie aka Maddies mate Report 24 Apr 2007 21:36

OC She is claiming money from Social services saying they didn't give her the correct level of care after From Huntley it is to be decided by the courts once they have assessed his financial situation - god help us if he has got money!!!!

An Olde Crone

An Olde Crone Report 24 Apr 2007 21:33

Wasn't she the one whose mother tipped off the police, when they were still looking for Holly and Jessica? I doubt if she is doing it for the money - what money has Huntley got? As the motive for Huntley's crime has always been 'unclear' (except to us, the public) it moves him from being a child killer - bad enough - to what he REALLY is, which is a murdering paedophile. I don't know if the parents of Holly and Jessica will derive any comfort from this knowledge, but it will at least be a further drawback to any plans for an early release for him. OC

Jessie aka Maddies mate Report 24 Apr 2007 21:27

Taken from the BBC news page Mrs Giblin, who waived her right to anonymity, had reported the attack to Humberside Police in 1998 and 2005, but the Crown Prosecution Service ruled there was insufficient evidence for a prosecution. She is thought to have spent about £60,000 in legal fees. Well she tried in 1998 then and they ignored

Yes, I think a remember a documentary about this a few years ago, and she vowed never to let it drop until he admitted it and the police did something about it. So well done her but sadly it has taken her eleven years to get justice Ann x

Joan of Arc(hives) Report 24 Apr 2007 21:20

That's ok Maddie I am almost certain that's what I read, but it may not be 100% accurate (depending on which paper you read). The thing is it was a shame they didn't take more notice from her at the time, isn't it? They are also saying that Maxine Carr played a bigger role than she is admitting. Still she is living a normal life possibly with her own kid/kids now, so I guess they slipped up there as well.

Sharon Your Hubby and me must think alike................ My first reation was roughly the same 'Money' and 'How must Hollie and Jessica's parents feel' I know that if I was Hollie and Jessica's parents I would want to know WHY this was not acted on years and years before and why now?? As a Mum it worries me that there could be many many more like Huntley who have been accused and the Police have done nothing about them Maxine Carr knew and aided and I think she should have rotted in Jail too for what she did...............................I know that if it was one of my kids I would want to see her in hell

Thanks Joan I only saw the news earlier and asked OH about it, It didn't come across on the programme I saw that she had made a complaint earlier or been trying since, therfore my first reaction was 'Omg, Why didn't she do /say something earlier and then Jessica and Hollie may still be alive' Blinking Police to blame then?? Like I said I thought I may have got it wrong but wasn't sure hence this thread

Sharon Report 24 Apr 2007 21:15

my husband did wonder why she has come forward now and not earlier, he thinks it`s money!!!!!!..... not sure myself, maybe she told the police things at the time and they told her to keep quiet...this country is good at keeping things under wraps.. hubby is quick to judge but the way this country is now i wonder if they knew, but didn`t say anything......they are all trying to cover each others mistakes, which is just like the politics and all the rest of it.. this country is going down hill and i was always for Labour.. sharon

Joan of Arc(hives) Report 24 Apr 2007 21:10

I would add, that had the police prosecuted him then, his name would have been on the sex offenders register & he would not have been offered the job at the school, & those two little girls would still be alive today. So sad.

Joan of Arc(hives) Report 24 Apr 2007 21:09

Hi Maddie's mate She did report it at the time, but the police said they couldn't prosecute through lack of evidence (she was only a kid). However she has always maintained he did what she said & since his conviction for murder has campained to get her case heard, However eventually she brought a civil case against him, from what I understand, & he admitted his guilt on the last day. :0) Joan

What do you all think about the girl /woman who has come forward now and accused Huntley of rape/abuse 11 years ago, and he has admitted it??? Have I miss understood ( if so please correct me ) Why has she waited until now? why not have him arrested before now, before he killed Jessica and Hollie?? Please let me know if I have mis-understood this case
