Thanks Bryan, sorry I took so long to reply! Yes that has helped me. I didn't realise there were so many problems with the new Vista OS. I think we will stick to the Win XP. Not doing a high upgrade, but ANY new system is better than the one we have now!!! lol Looked at an 80gb, 512 ram, comes with TFT Monitor, keyboard, mouse, Win XP and all the software....looks a good package so if they still have them, I think that's what I'll buy tomorrow. Got to be better than the 20g and 256 ram I'm running now! lol All I have to do now is learn how to transfer all my stuff from this comp to the new one....sigh.....oh and how to set up a home network!! Nanna-Moo ;-)) |

hi nanna, i received an email from tiscali a few days back, hope this helps. Dear Customer, Important: Windows Vista and your Tiscali service Microsoft have launched a new operating system called Windows Vista. If you are thinking of upgrading your system to Vista, please read the important information below. The introduction of Windows Vista has caused some problems throughout the industry. These are due due to incompatibility issues with other software. If you are upgrading to Vista there are scenarios where you may experience problems, such as being unable to connect to the Internet. This is due to incompatibility issues with your existing modem software and Vista. Most other ISPs are experiencing the same difficulties, and Tiscali is working hard (along with our modem supplier) to ensure full compatibility with Vista. We expect to have a complete solution in the next few weeks. We suggest you wait until this is ready before purchasing Vista. However, if you are still thinking of upgrading your PC to Windows Vista before that time we recommend you click on the link below to install the relevant new drivers for your modem to avoid being disconnected from the Internet. Please check your modem to see if it is a SpeedTouch or a Sagem modem, and click the link below to download drivers and get advice on how to install them. Get drivers and installation advice Kind regards, The Tiscali Team best wishes, bryan. |

HI Little Lost Cuz, yep, got a feeling we are going to have to stick with XP too. Am still trawling the net and trying to get answers, but Vista isn't getting the thumbs up at the mo. I'm quite happy with the XP OS so could be spending some money tomorrow!! Thanks for the reply...I don't understand all the techie stuff, but I am trying! lol Nanna-Moo ;-) |

we recently got a new computer and stuck with windows XP. We were told that vista has not got a lot of drivers yet so if you want to add on your printer and scanner etc. you need to check that the drivers are available for vista. |

We are looking to buy a new computer for myself and my Son. Am looking and most seem to come with Windows Vista now. We have learning cd's that run on Win XP, does anyone know if we would still be able to use these on the Vista OS or would we need to stick with XP? I have seen a computer that would do the job (XP OS), but others (Win Vista OS) offer the better deal than the XP package..... I am not great with computers and my head is hurting now as we have looked at so many! lol I'm off for another look, so if I don't reply straight away, I'm not ignoring anyone! Nanna-Moo ;-) |
