The bluetits in the bird box don't have babies, it was their excited chirping at just checking the box out that o.h. and neighbour heard yesterday, that made them think there were fledglings there and the parents were feeding them.No sign of any activity today - bluetits not around, so o.h. peeked inside and just a few bits of fluff, no droppings, nest, shells or any sign of it being used as a nursery. I am so disappointed! |

Blue Tits look at quite a few nest boxes before they make their final choice. There would be baby birds in there by now |

Awww Liz, no 'Auntie Liz' now, then? :-) I can understand your disappointment though; I'd be just the same. x |

Is it blue tits that make nests a couple of times in the breeding season.....my Mum and Dad knew all about birds, and kept bird boxes......my cat scares anything decent away from the garden.....we just have black things, magpies and bl**dy big pigeons.... |

Will have to hope they come back and have another look at the house but if not, will have to be auntie to the blackbirds that are currrently making a nest in the conifer. O.h. had taken some lovely mini videos of the bluetits hopping in and out of the bird box tho. |

O.h. has another little nesting box hanging from a branch, he left it out all winter so it is a bit tatty, and swings around too much I said. It is heart shaped, and is called the Love Shack, has a little sign over its 'door'. |
