Good evening!... I discovered my grandad lived 3 doors away from my husbands great-grandmother on the 1901 census! A lovely coincidence...to think the familys would have known each other... I hope they liked each other! Sandra. xxx |

That was odd too. I wonder if people feel drawn back to the places their ancestors came from or if they feel at home there? Sue |

Susan - Long story I remember finding a website whilst looking for relatives on my gran's tree. Someone had posted ancestor trees for a particular village. I found out that the people on that tree weren't related as they came from the wrong area but found another tree that that person had posted relating to my grandfathers ancestors, Found lots of new info as a result and the gentleman kindly helped me although he was only a very distant relation to that family (by marriage). Then a few years later, totally out of the blue, I managed to connect to the original tree I had looked at (on my gran's side) although they weren't ancestors. My Nan's ancestors had never lived there, in fact they lived far away, however, their relations had moved there. The person who had posted the tree was again a distant relative of mine, this time on both sides of my (grandprents) tree. |

I did a fan chart of my ancestors and one for my husband's......it suddenly struck me how similar they were and how odd that seems! We were both born in Hampshire (though we didn't meet there). Our mothers were both from the West of England and have relations in similar places at roughly the same place on the fanchart. Our fathers were both born in Lincolnshire but their ancestors came from Norfolk.......from villages about two miles apart. I've not actually found an ancestor in common yet but am wondering if I might one day. Has anyone else found anything like this? Sue |

I've been wondering just how common it is to find unexpected links to people who are already friends or relatives by marriage? |
