I know both my GGG grandparents surnames so it shouldnt prove too difficult to trace them back, but it does seems strange, maybe he had several brothers and she was an only child and they wanted to carry on her name, although i must say its not an unusual name, very common in fact. |

I have recently been 'found'(contacted via Genes) by a 2nd? cousin that took his mothers maiden name, does make it difficult trying to trace back, Bob |

A colleague of mine in recent times kept her maiden name & hubby took on her name, as her parents had 2 daughters & they wanted her father's family name to continue. Haven't come across it in my research though. Angela |

Whilst searching for marriage details on probate records (1819) i have stumbled across the fact that my GGG grandfather seems to have taken my GGG grandmothers surname upon their marriage. Has anyone heard of this happening? It seems very strange, but although i have searched 20 years before and after the date of marrage, i can find no other listings for their marriage. Fee |
