A neighbouring family 3 doors up from me were on it, there daughter had treated her and her hubby for an anniversary present at trip away, the daughter was also on the ferry, the first I knew of it was when I saw on the News in her hospital bed next to her husband and being told that her daughter was still alive, I will never forget hers and her hubbys face at that news, what a dreadful time for all who sailed that day. My 'daughter' (it's a long story - no true relation but she has our family name) lost her grandfather, his second wife and her daughter on that ferry. The family had a funeral for the three of them. I don't know if she saw the programe but now you've mentioned it was on , I'll give her a ring.

I wonder why he wasnt featured in the programme. Maybe to upsetting for him. The emotions took over some of those again last night. I do remember that lorry driver saying about how he was tapping with his watch so somebody would hear them. Terrible how those parents were told their son was a survivor then later found they hadnt even found him

I had no idea this was so close to people hearts and lives. I will delete if anyone finds it insensitive.

Jess. I remember the disaster very well. I also remember reading about a man who made a ' bridge' of himself, so that people could crawl over him to safety. He was a tall and brave man, I also remember seeing him on televison news at the time. I can see him in my mind's eye but unfortunately I can't recall his name. Sunny Rosy

we used to live down south and often went across on day trips on the ferry. Prior to that incident we used to laugh about the boat tipping and pretend to fall about drunk. The last time I went was in 1989 and it wasnt funny at all. It was quite scarey as you then realise the reality of it all. My brother was a lorry driver at the time and we didnt know where he was until the next day. Luckily he was safe on english soil. God bless those poor souls

But for the Grace of God indeed Howie. Apparently one of my half brothers was on it , he made a 'bridge' or so his mother tells, i saw no mention of it though. The bravery of those people was astounding

I didn't watch it but will never forget it, it happened on my childrens birthday, March 6th. I hope the lessons learned continue to be used.
