we had a new gas meter fitted a couple of motns ago so hope that gives an accurate reading.

My mother-in-law's gas direct debit is now over £100 per month. I am wondering if the meter is faulty: it is due to be changed but the engineer keeps turning up without the required bracket.

I know you don't want the hassel of changing suppliers but if you are being charge so much I would look into it. I left BG when they had their huge price rises - I can't afford their increases, and I wasn't going to sign one of thier contracts. I am with another company now - got better rates and for now I will stick with them Vikkix

Mine went up a couple of quarters ago I was always in credit then suddenly when everything rocketed I went into debit. They double my payment from £40 per quarter to £80 I haven't argued as I want to get back in credit then I won't be worrying in the winter. Think it is almost srtaight again now. Thing is it should be less now as we have moved about and one room less to heat and son does his own washing so no dryer going for that lot. Germaine x

took ages to sort out as I kept being put on hold but they have agreed that £52 should cover it. Bit better than £62

thats incredible........you would think that there would be some sort of red aleert button go of when some of these bills are printed. Have decided to phone them today and ask if we can meet in the middle. Instead of jumping form £39 to £62 how about if we made it £50

My 80 year old aunt has recently received a bill from British Gas for over £500 . They said it was too cover the recent rises and due to the last 4 bills being estimated.

gosh that does seem a lot. Our actual bill was £135 for the 3 months but they have calculated how much we have used in the past year and worked it out to be £62 per month. So I dont suppose it is to far out as that would be a summer bill. We have changed all our light bulbs to energy saving ones. How much do candles cost? lol

My last ELectricity bill came a couple of weeks ago and considering it was for the summer quarter and i was away for nearly 6 weeks of it...i nearly died of shock £256.96. I am dreading the winter bill. R.B.

I would just like to receive an electricity bill (they read the meter regularly) I have written to my supplier I have phoned them got put on hold as per usual.and given up because the waiting time was too long Got through on Monday call answered immediately was told I was being connected to another dept. then a recorded message said you have dialled the wrong number please try again I pay by direct debit they have put the price up but not informed me Bren

in theory we should be better of than most as we own our house outright but the way things are going makes me wonder if I would be better of not working. Gas Electric Council rates Television License and water rates dont leave a lot. Our house insurance is due for renewal next month gripe gripe gripe LOL

I would tell them to reduce the amount they want, they wanted to put mine upto £90 pound a month, we were paying £56, they settled for £62. jean

I dont want to switch suppliers as last time it took us about 6 months to fianlly complete the switch over during which time we had letters threatening to cut us of in the run up to christmas even though we were paying by direct debit. In the end they owed us over £100 but I probably spent nearly that much on the phone trying to get it sorted.

Talking of electricity, I'm trying to find the website or helpline about paying too much for electricity. I don't want to switch suppliers Thanks Sylvx

Mine is £48 per month now...only a one bed flat, and the heating is in with the rent!

Just had my quarterly bill in. My usual direct debit is £39 per month. I have now been told that it will rise to £62 per month to cover the cost of the amount we are using. Is this excessive or is it the norm?
