A small village...but they have made an effort....my wife says that a few lights strung around the lampost is pathetic...I have not seen them lit..but will in about 15 minutes.....off to the pub to listen to the music.. Sister in Law.............Torreviecca...probably mispelt...20 minutes from Mercia airport Cheers Colin

Think they are doing ours this Sat. I have no idea what they will be like but hope they are better than last year as all year round shops have been collecting so we can have them as the council refused us any last year something about not being enough money and the shops hadn't paid what they owed from the year before. About 1 week before Christmas after an outcry we got a few measley ones at one end of the shopping centre hardly worth puttin up. Last couple of years they have been awful. Germaine x

Roxanne my husband wakes up and can't contain his excitement at Christmas and shouts into his pillow IT'S CHRISTMAS.............LOL ........ its such a thrill the run up to it all isn't it? My children are now 10 & 14 and have the christmas bug too........... my daughter saw a PINK tree in Tesco's & red fairy lights last week.......... guess whats up already in her room? LOL

Sue, Have you ever been to see the snow people at Durkar? Yours are still probably a bit old for them but have you not got any young neighbours/rellies you could encourage them to take so that you can still have the magic? Dawn

Lights in Funchal are switched on 17 November at 9pm so may go in and see, they get better every year, lots of blue lights last year, will be interesting to see what they have this year. Rosalind

Thats a good idea, Debs:-) I have to say Ive never grown out of the magic of Christmaslol my husband says Im the biggest kid going,I just love it:-))

Oh Sue as Roxanne says thats sad. How about putting small pressies in big boxes? Tie a long piece of string to their bedroom door handle and hide their pressie downstairs somewhere - so as they have to find it ? Save some gifts to keep on giving throughout the day?

Im fine thanks:-) I love to see the houses all lit up,too. we will get some lights for outside,and we have a very large fir type tree outside so that will get some attention too:-))

My children are 15 and 17 and say all the exitement has gone out of christmas. How sad really. What can I do to put it back?? Sue xx

Oh how pretty. Ours have gone up too in Downpatrick - not sure if they are switched on yet though. Does anyone know the theme for the Oxford street lights yet in london?

Hi Ruth, there not lit yet, but they always put them up a month before, they usually light them mid december:-)) There just going to be lovely this year:-))

They have put the most beautiful christmas lights all along each street, it looks like a fairy town:-)) My granddaughter will love it when she comes over for christmas:-)))
