Does your tree have names that were daughtered out?

Wyatt has been daughtered out of my tree as none of the sons have has children and all the girls changed their names on marriage. Graham has been daughtered out as the last male with the name has no children or any wish to have children of his own (he is a step dad) also believe that the following have been daughtered out:- Walters, Rees, Saunders.

*wonders if son realises what a responsibility he's got* - the line ends with him. There are no other males to carry on the name. That's quite sad when you think of it. That side of the family is the furthest back I've got: a direct line from 1655 :-( Mags x

My Hubby is the last of his line in England (He has a male cousin in Iceland with a son) and we have 3 daughters. His father is quite upset!! I told him maybe one of my girls will be a single mum!! lol Tammy :~)

Incase you haven't guessed a name is daughtered out when there are no boys to carry on the name either because. Example General William Tecumseh SHERMAN was born 8 Feb 1820 in Lancaster, Ohio. Depending on which side of the Mason-Dixon line you might be on, you may consider him a famous ancestor or a skeleton in your closet if you are basing it on his performance during the American Civil War. However, you cannot have the SHERMAN surname and be directly descended from him. While he had four sons, none of them had offspring. Two of his sons, William and Charles both died young. His son Tom became a Catholic priest. Other son Philemon never married and had apparently no issue. His descent is one of those that daughter's out. Also the House of Hanover which eved with Queen Victoria who was the only child born in her generation with the exception of her cousin Princess Charlotte Augusta of Wales who died aged 21 in the hours that followed the birth of her still born son. Victoria's decendents were of the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, later the House of Winsor.

My maiden name is daughtered out. I'm an only child and none of my Dad's brothers had sons. There are male second cousins, though. Gwynne
