I used to think my maiden name 'Cowperthwaite' was a pain because it was soooooo long. Now after researching my genealogy and knowing a lot more about my ancestors, I am quite thrilled with my maiden name and extremely proud of my heritage. I am also very happy with my married name and actually quite proud to be Mrs Elston. So I can have my cake and eat it! lol Lyn x x x x

Well I prefer my married name of Taylor cos maiden name was Fasey and was the butt of name calling at school like faceache ,toothache belly ache.BUTTTT have discovered that shouldnt have been the right maiden name tho cos grandad was German and his surname was FAHSE with two umlatts over the 'a'. He told porkies to join the British Army in 1898 and said he was BRrtish and his name was Fasey .Gawd knows how he came up with that but he married Gran as Fasey & the name carried on Would quite have liked being Fahse altho that may have caused problems too in the 1940,s cos of WW2!! Morning everyone... Just before my brother married, his wife-to-be was chatting with her mum...'He's a nice man,but I don't know about his surname',her mum said. 'MUM!...How can you say that! Tracy was about to become a Garbett, yet her mother had the unfortunate surname of Fowle! Sandra. xxx

Morning everybody. I liked my maiden name... Coventry.Thought it was so unusual before I started looking for family.Discovered there are quite a lot(though still not found my paternal grandparents yet.) Wish now I'd given my children it as a second name. I married a Noble man and I really like his surname. Mau xx

Couldn't wait to get rid of my maiden name but when I became addicted to tracing the family tree I felt quite nostalgic for my old name. In the end I changed my name by deed poll to include my maiden name as second middle name. I did it all on- line......all offical......for less than fifty pounds. Susan
