Hey Well I have a tropical fishtank too, and got 5 zebra danios and 6 balck neon tetra at mo, and live plants...... Well...... My other half went to feed them earlier, and said when did you buy a snail......i said huh !!...I haven't....and low and behold theres a little baby snail in the tank and its nifty too, can't believe...where'd it come from....??? He think's it must of come in one of the live plants I bought, but I bought them ages ago...and havent seen it before...... Is it harmful for the other fish?? Do you you know about them at all??? Will it create alot of waste and effect my waters levels??

You'll have loads of them soon enough! Yes, it would have come in with the plants. It won't do any hard to the fish at all, and they can actually benifit your tank. If a plant has dead bits on them, the snails will usually eat them, but they won't eat the live plants. Also, the fish will eat the snail eggs, and the baby snails, which is good for them. Only problem is, when you have loads of them, it can look a bit nasty, but it doesn't do anything to the tank. What you could do, is buy an Apple Snail. They eat a lot more food than the common snails does, so if you have one of them, the other snails might starve, The Apple snails usually look a hell of a lot better than the common snails. Apple snails need two of a kind to mate, common snails dont. If you have one, it's enough to breed LOADS. So with Apple snails you dont have to worry about over-population. :-)
