Baz Congratulations!!!! My bestest pet ever was a budgie called Bambi. He was GORGEOUS and his best friend was Mitzi our CAT!!! Bambi used to be let out of his cage all day and he could normally be found on the kitchen tap when my mum was washing up, or on the mantlepiece dropping things onto the floor, playing football with rolled up tin foil, or being rolled around the floor in an empty tube of smarties (one of the really big ones that you used to get in your stocking for Christmas) or occasionally in my porridge!!! But his really best trick was to let Mitzi lick him!!!! And occasionally we would come back into the room and there was no sign of Bambi, and as much as we trusted Mitzi there was always that little doubt in the back of your mind???!! Anyhow, he always used to be sat UNDER Mitzi!! He would walk out all hot and sweaty and then Mitzi would give him a good lick!!! Oh, happy days!!! Shirls x |

Hiya Shirley I had a budgie years ago, when I was a lad, that used to sit in a model railway wagon, clockwork of course, and go round and round all day. All I had to do was to keep winding it up. |

Thanks Baz, you'll have to keep us updated. Shirley, I'm really impressed with your cat!!!None of our cats would have been that self controlled. I'm astounded. How did they get to know each other in the first place ie did they grow up together? Do you have pics? |

Baz Budgies are soooo great!!! Can't have one now as my cats jump on anything that moves - but Bambi used to sit on my dad's head and make a nest out of his hair (mind you he didn't have that much - more of a Bobby Charlton sweep over!!) One day went down the road with my mum and could hear a bird singing really loudly - you guessed it - there was Bambi on my shoulder singing away!!!! Goodness knows how I managed to get home without him being scared and flying away!!!!! Wow, how this brings back memories of being a kid!!! We didn't have a wind up railway, but he used to dodge backwards and forwards over my bruvs Skaletrixs !!!! Unfortunately he was stood on the floor one day and my brothrer stood on his tail - Bambi flew off and his tail remained on the floor - still, further feathers grew and he didn't seem any worse off for it!!! Lesley No, we got our cat after we had Bambi. Don't quite know what happened but they really seemed to get on!!?? Maybe cat thought that she would be out on the street if she did something really bad to Bambi!! There is a picture of Bambi in his smarties tube with the cat pushing him around AND one of Mitzi IN Bambi's cage - not that my family are wierd or anything!!!! Must try and find them Shirls x |

Shirls, I love my birds, I have 2 Canaries indoors, a male and a female, both in their own cages, and you want to hear the male singing out, he's absolutely gorgeous. If you wake up feeling depressed, then Mario, the Canary, will cheer you up no end . |

Baz Now this is going to sound really wierd - but when I was asked years ago what my favourite smell was - it was a damp budgie - just after he'd had his little bath attached to his cage!!! Wow, did the person who asked me think I was wierd, should of said mown grass, fresh coffee or something!! Other thing that I loved was the way that his feathers came through in a little sort of waxy covering, that he loved me to pick off for him - now that sounds really sick!!! Shirls x |
