Today is Remembrance Day - yes I know it was yesterday, but today I have been watching the wreath laying and march at the Cenotaph. I think of my birth father, Canadian, far from home. I never met him, and now he is gone. I think of my birth mother, naive and loving, I met her but she too is gone now I think of my full sister, separated from me by being adopted to a different family to myself. Where is she? How has her life been? War touches everyone, and the shadows it casts are very long. Eileen birth name

How true Eileen. My aunt, one of my mother's sisters, had a baby by an American GI in 1944 (before I was born). She had the baby adopted (strict Catholic family - 'What would the neighbours say etc.'). I recently found her birth registered BMD index and I've put her in my tree. I have often wondered what happened to her, what sort of life she has had, has she children etc. and does she wonder about her real mum.

I would dearly love to know what happened to the baby, who she was adopted by etc.
