As an ex-hairdresser I would advise your Mum to have her hair cut into a short but fashionable style and to keep her hair well conditioned. If it is permed it would probably frizz more and possibly break off as it is so dry. The lotion could also affect her scalp and burn it. I used to recommend Pure Silverkrin Hair Tonic but that has now been discontinued. Vaselene do a hair tonic which she should be able to get at good chemists. Massage a few drops into the scalp twice a week which will help both the scalp and hair . Hope the information helps. Viv |

I too am pleased your Mum has done so well. As for the hair question, can't help - what was her hair like as a child? One lady I see sometimes is now very fair. She says it was that colour when she was a little girl and then it darkened with age!! It was bottled copper before her treatment, so I got a surprise when I saw she was so fair. Jay |

Hi my mum had lung cancer 2004 and had surgery, chemo and then radiotherapt (to her head) my question is has anyone else had radiotherapy to the head and how did your hair grow back. My mum is well and has had her second yearly check and they are happy with her and want to see in in a years time but she is noww worried about her hair as it has grown back but is very thick and frizzy. Her hairdresser thinks the hair is very dry and would not want to perm it. It looks a bit like she has had a fright. She always had her hair nice and this has affected her confidence although she appreciates the treatment had to be done to allow her to live. Any tips from people who have gone through similar treatment or any hairdressers would be great. She wonders if it was the Raidiotherapy and if her hair will always be like this if so she may get it cut very short and buy some new wigs. |
