Hi Sylvia I don't have a problem if GR wish to make improvements or have a new system but they should test things out before putting them live. The bugs that I have encountered have been in the system for far too long now and their doesn't seem to be any indication that they are going to be fixed. Hi Little Lost Cousin That's true! LOL.... Hi Tracey and Gillian I know that lots of Genes Reunited users have complained but I just wonder how many people have felt the need to complain and when are Genes Reunited going to take some effective action and resolve the problems. Hi Lin I'd like to rephrase your response a little. The bugs aren't in my system! They are in the GR system! The main problems I have complained to GR about numerous times are to do with the 'My tree matches' - 'My Names Summary' section. I used to use this section a lot and now find it is not worth the hassle. Hi Peter I can't check my tree. I've deleted it! LOL. Hi Jeanette I would like to put my tree back on the system but not until GR have resolved the problems. In fact if GR don't resolve the problems I may get to the stage where I feel that I can manage quite well without the GR System. GR aren't the only resource on the Internet, there are many other useful sites. Hi Glenys I too hold the majority of information in my offline tree. Hi Kathlyn I too get a bit of that out of the blue 'Can I have access to your tree'. I find it annoying but that's not my main frustration with the system. I guess that like me other users have their own specific problems that they would like GR to deal with. I just can't understand why GR have let the situation get so bad. Hi Derek Hopefully the management will do something. However GR's responses to my complaints have either been ignored or classed as enhancements. With this attitude GR are just going to continue making more and more people unhappy. Hi JB I think that GR have got selective hearing. i.e. The sound of the coins dropping in to their tin box delights them and anything that sounds different to that is something that is unrecognisable to them so they ignore it. Sorry to wind on so long everyone. I do think that the people on this site are really great and GR don't deserve to have such a good bunch of customers/members. John

My recent missive to GR. (My other gripe is the poor security on the system, which would fail the most basic audit, in my opinion.) This is not about 'abuse' as such, but about abuse of the system. I refer to the use of the automated reply system 'can I view your tree'. When a user makes a polite well structured request of another member, only to receive no information, except the automated reply and no access to their tree and a request to view your data, it is irritating and I think extremely bad etiquette. Can you either edit the phrases used to make them more acceptable, get rid of them completely or explain to the ignorant faction that indiscriminate use of automated replies is against the ethos of GR, which relies on co-operation between members. I recall that in the past members have complained of this issue, but it seems to me to need your attention to resolve. I the meantime my attitude is to ignore such members and put them on a blacklist.

Sorry to hear that John. We need to keep this topic bubbling, and you never know, the management may do something about it? Good luck. Derek

I don't blame you, John. In any case, I hold far more information on my offline tree.

I removed mine a couple of weeks ago cos I wasn't very happy about security on this site......and it seems I was proved right a few days later when peeps on here were getting those spam emails in their GR names! However, I have now put a skeleton tree on cos I like to have a look at my recent tree matches. Jeanette x
