During the war my Dad was based in Belgium they were camped parked? for sometime and a couple used to come out and take the soldiers hot soup etc. One couple became friendly with my Dad and kept in touch after the war. When they found out about me being on the way they asked if I could be named after them . If I had been a boy I would have been called Emanuel. They must have been a very special couple for my parents to do that. They kept in touch for many years when I was little I often wonder what became of them. Hense no way was my name ever!!! to be cut short to Gerry and it never has those that tried were soon pulled up that was her one stipulation. Germiane x

My Sunday and being told off name(!) Jennifer was picked for me by my eldest brother when they had a radio programme where this man asked 'whats your name little girl' and she said in a silly voice 'my names Jennifer'. My youngest brother wouldn't volunteer a name because he was sulking, he hadn't wanted a sister, he'd wanted a piano!! That remark certainly brought tears to my mums eyes (in pain at the thought of it, I think)
