Pain management clinic do not perform miracles. The name in itself does not suggest they make your pain go away. What they do is help you to 'manage' the pain better, ie by treatments, such as the cortisone someone mentioned earlier, or, most importantly, but mental attitude and gentle exercise. I attend one for my arthritis, and they have given me lots of tips abotu things to use to help me to continue to do simple everyday things, like picking up the post, avoiding the awful stiffness after resting and first thing in the morning, and lots of advice on where to get the things you need to help you, making sure any walking aids are the correct ones, and at the correct height, and so on. They have also given loads of support when dealing with benefits claims and so on. They are as they say, Pain MANAGEMENT. They help you manage your pain, they can't take it away. |

Hi Puss, I feel qualified to answer this as I was a regular at the pain clinic for 4 years with excruciating back pain...that was 5 years ago...fit as a fiddle with no pain whatsoever now (Lucky me). I was given injections into my spine every six months, this gave me a pain free period which seemed to do wonders. Hope all goes well for you. Tina x |
