Have you ever been to the village where your family came from?I recently visited Graveley where my granadads family came from and it was such a strange feeling when i was walking down to the church, thinking that hundreds of years ago my ancestors made the same journey every sunday... BB xx |

Know exactly what you mean, it's like a deep seated connection, a oneness with your ancestors carol |

Angela now in Wilts (not North Devon) | Report | 3 Nov 2006 19:01 |
BB Last Christmas eve we found my 3xgreat grandmother's grave, then went for lunch in the local pub. Couldn't help thinking that my ancestors had probably sat there 150 or so years ago. Also, in a nearby village was the site which had been a pub run by my 4xgreat grandparents (now a gift/candle shop). You could still see where the beer barrels had been rolled into the cellar - now bricked up. The gift shop owner was really interested when I told her why we were there. Much to my shame I didn't buy anything! Angela |
