My auntie in Utah sent me a message yesterday to say that people have got fed up with so many kids knocking on the doors that they have adopted the trunk or treat message. Anybody that wants to take part can park their car in the supermarket carpark in a circle with the trunk facing outwards with the goodies in there. The kids can then go around the circle of cars knocking on the trunks.......... |

didnt have that trouble last night! set up spooky music, glowing pumpkin and sweets then sat there waiting for kids to arrive - TWO all night! one frightened me to death as i opened the door to put out rubbish and he hadnt even knocked on the door so i didnt know he was there. boy did he make me jump, i am afraid i swore (only mildly, thankgoodness) and the second one was SO scared herself when i slowly opened the door and she heard the spooky music and pumpkin (in the darkness) i could see her walking backwards looking petrified until i put the light on for her to get the sweets. well thats over for a year, only mischeif night to get over now and then bonfire night. roll on 6th november. tina x |

mischief night is when the children go round knocking on peoples doors and running away (if you are lucky) if you are not lucky worse things are done, sometimes dangerous pranks involving fireworks, milk bottles or damage to property. it hapeens on 4th november every year in yorkshire. my ex husband thought i was going mad when we first married as i went round tying up the letter box, taking in anything not nailed down from the garden. he had never heard of mischeif night either! on the 5th our local paper is full of stuff that kids have got up to the night before. can be a quite frightening night. tina x |
