I live in Teesside too Chrissie and it's definitely 30th October up here. My son works for the police and they have a nightmare of a night on 30th. Kath. x |

Tonight our local paper is full of reports of 'unsocial behaviour' taking place on Oct 30 which they claim is 'mischief night'....cars turned on their sides...fires set...bricks thrown, eggs thrown etc etc. We always had 'mischief night' on 4th November and did mischief - silly things like knocking on doors and running away - I lived in a terrace of houses which had two front doors together so we would tie string around each door knob and then knock on both doors and watch when they tried to open them....I remember nailing my dad's slippers to the floor and filling my mum's gloves with torn up pieces of paper. It took time but one year I linked all the clothes in my mum's wardrobe by passing string up and down the arms of all the dresses and coats hanging there. Simple fun....and adults joined in and saw it as such - we didn't damage. |

We had a discussion at work today about 'mischief night'. Some thought it was last night (Oct 30)....others thought it was the night before Bonfire Night....others had never heard of it....do you have one - ????? |
