i had a green silver cross for my two girls, now 12 and 9.i had no problems with getting them into the car as the tops comes of of the suspension,it cost about £800 then but worth every penny,my eldest used to love lying on the shopping tray at the bottom when youngest was a baby. i think you're right about them coming back cause i saw 2 today and 1 last week, Karen

I had a 'big' pram and I walked everywhere. If I went into town I had to walk back up the hill. When daughter was born, son sat on a seat on top, blimey I must have been fit. If I couldn't walk somewhere I never went. Sue

The silver cross prams are expensive but you can get looky likey ones, iv seen them that are cheaper. I do like them silver crosses though and I remember seeing photo's of me when i was a baby and my mum had me in the old fashioned silver cross. I ended up buying my daughter a Chicco Trio CT1 when she was born from john lewis and that was pricey £570 in total we paid with accessories. Most of the prams nowadays your looking at paying quite alot though, unless you just buy a buggy and them Quinny Zapp ones are really good and nippy.

Caz, I think prams were used when people knew what their legs were for ! lol I remember one that we had - in the end couldn't sell it for love nor money and had to give it to the local hospy for mums and babies - and deliver it at that cos they wouldn't collect !

Oh yes Catherine if looked after they never wear out, mine was in a bit of a mess silly man brought and took off before I saw the scratch he had just put it ( could see it was just done ) and the hood was very faded but got it all done, then dosey me a few week ago didn't look where i was going and walked into a bollard anyway it is more or less right again a tiny dint and good touch up paint looks the bees knees again. I remember the pram I bought for the kids when babies ( wish I still ahd it) lovely Silver Cross navy and grey cost £37.50 now that makes me feel old. Yes Caz something you can't get on a bus but i live near town and so can walk. Only bad thing that tinker Abbi can reach the checkout at Asda everyone laughs as she tries to take everything off the belt, case of shoving it through and putting her out of the way. Really going to miss it Amanda laughs she says she has never pushed it yet I won't let her. Germaine x

wow what lovely stories- Yes I do remember you saying you used one for Abbi Germaine. The one I saw did look more slimline. They are lovely. But I can't believe the price of them. £1,000. But I suppose they last you a long time, better made than some of the modern prams. catherine xx

28yrs ago my parents bought us a beautiful bottle green Silver X pram. Think it cost about £300 back then but they are well over £1,000 now. Beautiful pram. Still got it too and still in prisine condition. Changed the mattress a couple of times and took my grandchildren out in it when they were babies. Brought back so many memories. Got just as many compliments about the pram as I did the grandkids! Aileen xxx

Think I told you Catherine I have one for Abbi a big navy (so dark though it looks black) it is what is called the Silver Stream bought it second hand for our Joe for £150 though needed a bit of renovation and this year the straps wore out they were £50 to replace. Your right though gets lots of attention you have to have plenty of time if you go out in the summer when the visitors are around. But it is great to push and the amount of shopping you can get in brill. Problem is nowadays you daren't leave a baby outside the shops and you can't always get it is them as it is so big. It is so lovely though and I will hate parting with it but Amanda says no more babies so it has to go when Abbi is too big think I will manage this winter out of it. So I have got her a dolls one to replace it lol. Quite a few around here in Fletwood one or two new ones I think they are about £1000 new, if you can find one, but I believe the new ones aren't quite as big as the silver stream Not sure. I call it the granny pram. Germaine x

Catherine, I think they must be making a comeback. I saw one the other day is was beautiful, much better than the buggies most people have, but not very practical now. I think the baby is much more comfortable in a pram rather than a buggy. Sue

Oooooohhhh. I had a Pedigree bassinet for my first daughter and a Silver Cross for the second. They were beautiful. Both were navy and silver and so well sprung as you wheeled them they rocked the baby to sleep. Mind you this was 45 years ago. We did not have a car but trains had luggage vans and stations had lines you could cross. I would think they are very impractical in this day and age. Jean x.
