Do you get kids knocking on your door, ours will start at around 6pm and will be a constant stream till around 9pm. Don't mind really, when it's done proper and they with a parent, it's the scallies that just put a mask on and want money that get me. Happy Halloween everyone. catherine xx |

Morning Catherine! My youngest is still at the age for going out trick or treating so it would hardly be fair to complain about kids knocking at my door! I've already done the pumpkin that sits on our doorstep so that the children know they are welcome. And yesterday we went out and bought all the stuff for Livvy's costume. The kids round here are generally well behaved and usually accompanied by an adult so it's quite enjoyable really |

Morning, This will cheer you up (not). Researchers for Norwich Union Insurance have discovered that claims for malicious damage to property rise by 150% on 31st October. Average cost of attacks on homes is £900. Trick or trickers throwing eggs and flour are responsible for 80%. Then there are those who switch off electritcity supplies, wreck gardens and steal items from outside homes. Also one of the worst days for car vandalism with 20% more claims than a normal day and an average damage bill of £1,200. Of the 1,000 people interviewed, 65% dreaded a knock on the door and some 72% said they had pretended not to be at home. Wales is the region where homes are most likely to be vandalised. Aileen xx |

One year, when we lived in Cardiff we were taking Emma around to my mum's house up the road so that Emma could show her her outfit, took her to some people we knew but arrived home to find eggs all over the front door and windows and car....what a mess... Was quite disappointed really as we were actually having fun and into it, quite spoilt the night thinking that someone would do that even though we weren't at home. Maybe they thought we were hiding behind the curtains??? Who knows??? |

Haven't had any for the last couple of of years, not that I know of anyway. I think now most of the kids go to parties. We used to get the little boy (not so little now) over the road come with his mummy, like most I don't mind if done properly with mummy stood at the gate. Funny one year though I went out a couple of days after and the little animals I had on the side fence ahd gone I said oh someone pinched me animals then I found them all sat on the table in the front garden . Now that kind of trick I like. Hadn't heard anyone at the door though. Been lucky no bad tricks done on me yet only silly one's that I can laugh at. Thing is if they come to our front doot I don't often here them so I get the tricks. Our Joe is only taken round his relatives. Germaine x |

Did you go out trick or treating when you were young or is it a more recent happening in UK? My own children are adults now but I remember very little special items in the shops, when they were young. Usually there were a few pumpkins on sale, but not much more. Gwyn |

Hi again, Don't usually get anyone knocking unless it is next door neighbour's kids. No other young children in our neck of the woods. Our little grandchildren usually do the rounds to both sets of g/parents but are going to a Halloween party this year so won't have them calling. Remember how much fun it was when I was young. Such a pity that so many kids are brought up nowadays with absolutely no discipline or boundaries. Aileen xxx |

I don't mind the little ones accompanied by adults coming to my door I think it's lovely to see them all dressed up but I don' t really like the older ones who turn up later, so once 8 o'clock comes I am afraid my lights will go out - young ones will be home by then and I don't really want my kids disturbed by my dogs barking every time someone comes to my door.xx |
