I know someone that has one, they are paying towards the horse's upkeep, the owner keeps it in their stable and looks after it, but it is available to ride, on demand...... Bob

if she gets on ok we will then think about buying one i had one when i was younger so i know what its all about

Lynne My friend loaned one at her local stables but it sounds different to yours. She paid for the upkeep of the horse, they still stabled it and she could ride it whenever it wasn't already booked out on rides. Debby

Yes I did. I was responsible for its care and upkeep and, of course, could ride whenever I wanted. It was 'mine' in every way except I didn't actually own it. Can be expensive, as any horse ownership is, but you don't have that initial outlay. A friend of mine put some of her horses out on loan and charged the loanees for grazing. Pat

Hi Lynne, yes I have had a horse on loan before from a horse sanctuary. The system is...they 'vet' you and where the horse will live and stabling etc. and you look after it...all very simple. They remain the owners of the horse and do spot checks every now and then to ensure it is being kept as it should. You pay for evertything as you would if it was yours. Tina x

the riding stables open for the summer season then they ask people to look after them for the winter ride feed groom and shoe them find your own field they supply the saddle and bridle
