Ancestors........... a poem The special book upon the shelf was made with many hands. Our ancestors who posed back then all came from different lands. Their pictures were all tucked away and rarely did we see, The importance of these treasures is The start of you and me. The history of our families now here in black and white Preserved with special care and time Each page is done just right. When time permits, we take it down and think of days long past. Our hopes, our dreams, our heritage All safe and made to last. Life is a scrapbook, torn and old In which our little lives are told, And when the twilight shadows fall This is the sweetest thing of all; To turn the pages of the years, Remembering with happy tears The faithful love, the perfect friend... These things are treasured to the end.

Its lovely Jeff and a bit more readable like this so hope you don't mind!! A TREE What might a man see as he looks at a tree Through the four seasons of the year? A wise man might see many things in that tree That will bring both a smile and a tear. The trunk he can see might be his family tree With it's roots planted deep in the soil, And the branches his loved ones who've stretched out afar To earn their keep with honest toil. In the warm summer months when the tree's in full bloom And it offers some shelter and shade, He'll think of that cot where he first took his bride When the vows to each other they'd made. Then when autumn comes and the tree sheds it's leaves And he watches them scattered around, He'll remember those loved ones who've left him behind, Those who've perished and all gone to ground. As winters draws on and the tree's standing there Looking barren, it's foliage gone, In his mind he will see in that cold lifeless tree That we all must grow old and pass on. But spring will return and new buds will appear On the tree after it's winter's rest, Then that man will remember those good days of yore And the young ones who feathered his nest. What might a man see as he looks at a tree Through the four seasons of the year, A wise man might see many things in that tree That will bring both a smile and a tear.

Love the poems on the board. I penned these verses a while ago which now seem appropriate for tree researchers. A TREE What might a man see as he looks at a tree Through the four seasons of the year? The trunk he can see might be his family tree With it's roots planted deep in the soil, And the branches his loved ones who've stretched out afar To earn their keep with honest toil. In the warm summer months when the tree's in full bloom And it offers some shelter and shade, He'll think of that cot where he first took his bride When the vows to each other they'd made. Then when autumn comes and the tree sheds it's leaves And he watches them scattered around, He'll remember those loved ones who've left him behind, Those who've perished and all gone to ground.
