To all you seasoned researchers ... I am fairly new and after a year of searching elsewhere I have found some of the people I have been looking for on this site. Fab! But, have sent several mesages and have had no response!! Aaarrrhhhhhhh! The frustration is unbearable! Please join me in making a wish that they will pick up their messages and reply .... soon .... to put me out of my misery! Thanks. Swiz |

Sometimes it takes a long while for people to respond to messages, some never do unfortunately. This may be because they put details on here in a first flush of enthusiasm and are no longer interested. But don't give up. Sometimes, If I don't hear in a month or so i send a second polite message asking them if they maybe missed the first one and explaining the relationship I am interested in. Some people will not respond if you have sent one of the 'stock' and blunt requests offered on hot matches so i always wwrite my own message giving as much detail as I can to attract an answer. it can be sooo annoying but even worse was i contacted one person and she replied telling me she was descended from someone i was looking for. i was thinking great because this person had gone to Australia in the 1950's and i can't find any trace of her but then the person never got in touch again. talk about dangling a carrot, Karen |
