we refuse to answer the door. Think its a custom gone to far . Leave it back where it came from. Not sure if its Ireland or USA |

Oh, i do answer the door, but only give stuff out Halloween...! We have a basket of sweets for the local kids...Then i go to my sisters and she make fresh pumkin soup while i take our kids out trick or treating.. The kids are really polite and we only go to houses where people have decorated or put a pumkin lantern out.... Lots of the old folk look forward to seeing the little ones dressed up... It's when they are teenagers with greusome masks on and bad manners that i object...!! LOU XXXXXXXXXXXXX |

I will be making our pumpkin lantern this afternoon hindered, sorry helped, by my son James. I am taking him on a scary walk on Tuesday night followed by play and a disco with hot dogs and soup etc. We've been the last few years and he loves going. I don't mind the little ones coming to the door trick or treating with an adult to supervise but I am not keen when it's teenagers hiding behind the masks. Some of them do have the manners to lift their masks which is good. One year, when my husband was working away, there was a loud banging on my front door just after 11 pm and when I looked there was a gang of teenagers with masks on. I did not answer the door! I have a cctv camera on the door, if it iis large teenagers in gruesome maskes I either don't answer of I answer with the chain on, if it is little ones I give them sweets. Last year a very large teenage boy knocked with the obligatory mask on, so i opened the door and when he said trick or treat and held his hand out (expecting money) I gave him a few sweets. he said 'Uh, thanks!' and wondered off bemused. Our problem is that they go round with the little ones in large groups with a couple of older children or adults., split and go down each side of the cul de sac, then swop over and go down the other side, going to th places that have already given, so you have about 10 children all at once. I wont give until Halloween, I have no patience with those who anticipate it by a couple of days. Ann Glos |
