Winter Drawers Ever Near | Report | 26 Oct 2006 14:05 |
Just had a call from daughter and she mentioned her neighbour’s car has been stolen. Not funny but reminded me of the time years ago when our car was stolen off the drive during Derby week at Epsom. Never did get it back. Then a few weeks later granddad, who had been out for a pint to the club came home and asked where the new car was. Hubby thought he was on a wind up. Sure enough it had disappeared. Rang police and they asked if he had upset someone! No, he’s not that type of person. Our daughters were still at high school at the time and told their friends. Got a phone call from the father of one of them to say he had spotted OH’s car just down the road. Hubby then remembered that on that particular evening he had started to walk down to the Chinese (5 minutes walk away) backtracked and decided to take the car. Parked it up in the side street, collected the takeaway and walked home. Made out to all concerned that there was hardly any petrol in it and that’s why it was dumped so close to home. Oh I had him over a barrel on that one. Aileen xx |

Hi Roxanne, Oh I milked it for all it was worth. Promised him wouldn't tell the girls. He did tell them a few years later when they had left school. Even after all that time as he was admitting it he went bright red. Bless. |
