Sarah, It's infuriating. For a long time I assumed (and that's the problem!) that two guys married twin sisters. There was a discrepancy on one census (so I thought) where the ages were different. It eventually transpired that in fact the girls were cousins, but the families had given their children the same names!!

And I have two sisters, Isabella and Ann Brown, who EACH married a John Abel. After much searching and plotting, I have discovered that the fathers of the two Johns were half brothers, sons of yet another John Abel. Track as many people as you can to work out complex family relationships. NEVER assume that errors were made - they may have been, but sometimes it is we who make the errors by not searching hard enough! Jay

Please don't presume sweetie as I have 2 Charles (same birth year, same place, same marriage year, same children's names!!) but they are definitely 2 different branches of the same family.... they are cousins using family names!! Good luck tho xx

Hi, I'v ebeen researching my great great great grandparents. I've reached Nathaniel Burden born 1821 in Chadlington. His daughter sarah Burden born 1849 is my link. But with nathaniel there are two born same year same place. From what I've got Jena is his wife. But the other nathaniel has children with the same names & ages?! I would think he remarried but the only census which questions this is the 1841 census. Any help would be greatly appreciated, i can supply more info if needed. Name: Nathaniel Burden Birth: 1821 in Chadlington, Oxfordshire, England Death: 1892 in Brighton, Sussex, East Sussex
