My mum in law was great as well and taught me so much. She was the only girl of a family of six and had to look after her father and brothers when her mother died. She brought up her sons to look after themselves and my husband can do housework etc better than I can! She never interfered but always said she was there if we needed her - I have followed this advice and never interfere with my son and daughter and their respective partners.

My mother-in-law is lovely :o) She says I'm the daughter she didn't have! (She had 2 sons, but sadly wasn't able to carry her daughters to full term.) I love her to bits, even if she is one of the scattiest people I know. She will be 90 on December 12th, and this August was in her garden trying to teach my grandaughter to skip. She (Mum) got so frustrated because she could only manage a couple of skips at a time! We have a video of her, taken a couple of Christmasses ago, riding my grandaughter's scooter up and down the garden path wearing her fur coat and best shoes that only come out for high days and holidays! Truly a M-i-L in a million :o))) Sue xx

Mother-in-laws are like exercet missiles, once they are on the way there is nothing you can do about it!.

Mine is a angel, my OH works way quite a bit and every day she calls me to check me and the kids are ok, or if I need anything picking up from town. My mum passed away a few years ago and my MIL has been brlliant she will never take the place of my mum but she is the next best thing. Jackie
