Thankyou Jeniffer and Samantha. I have seen the Census for Harriett and the Hershey Girl. They are somehow connected to this broughton family or maybe a few houses along. It was suggested that Harriot Broughton nee Ackley was the Mother of my Harriett but why would she employ her own daughter as a Servant. These were a wealthy family and one would think they would not emply thier own child as a servant. I have checked the area for Camberwell and it does state Surrey but the Sub district of Brixton. I am wondering if there is any other places that I can email on this one.? Another person who I have made contact with believes this is my Harrietts family above but I am in two minds Regards Marion |

Hiya Camberwell comes under surrey, london and middlesex depending on the year . but it south east london. if you can get on wikipedia it shows you a map sam x |

Hello I would appreciate some help please. I just cannot find any of my Great Great Grandmothers family in St Giles Camberwell. Perhaps I have been away from England too long and lost my bearings but is the above area in Surrey or Brixton? No matter how long and hard I look I cant get anywhere. I am searching for my Great Great Grandmothers family of Ackley. I have found a Harriett Ackley born 1825 St Giles Camberwell who was a Servant to a family of Boughton. Thomas Boughton (Stoke Broker)married a Harriot Ackley born in Loughborough late 1700s and if this is the case my Harriett Ackley who was born in 1830 not 1826 would be Servant to the above family and her Step Father. Surely not. It sounds like Cinderella if that was the case. Can anyone help perhaps with other areas for me to conduct my searching? I,m stumped with this one. ps My Harrietts father was named Thomas Regards Marion |
