I remember going to see the Robe when I was young with my mum, I also then read the book. I loved it. Of course then it probably didn't seem like overacting, we are used to so much better now. It was Victor Mature ns Richard Burton. It was one of the first large screen films I think. ann Glos

Just watch a film from 1953 The Robe....I thing it is Victor Mature plays a slave...take about over acting....but Richard Burton is brill a master of his craft...
