Oh OC, that must have been so wonderful receiving the card knowing that they had liked you all along. I think it must be so hard, when step-children are very young, for all involved. Lxx |

I had three stepsons, who lived with us for two years. They hated me (ages 2, 5,6, when they came to me) and wanted their real mum - she was rather too busy with her own life at that point. Eventually they went back to her and never spoke to ME again, although they did come to stay in the hols.I wept many a bitter tear over them. They are all grown now and I have divorced their father anyway, so never expected to hear from them again. So I was astonished when my daughters (their half-sisters) attended a family gathering and brought back a lovely card, signed by all three boys saying Sorry we were such little ***** to you - we liked you really! Floods of tears.... OC |

I have a lovely step-daugher who is 23 next month. She lives miles away from us but I love it when she comes to stay and she is brilliant with our little boy - her half-brother - and he adores her. Lorrainex |

I have a step-daughter she was 4 yrs when oh and I met. I never seen to get the balance right. We married when she was 7and her mother re- married the year after. We have always included her in everything, but still we now only see xmas and birthdays. I used to think she was being loyal to her mother ( they had sperated long before I came on the scene). Then when she was 15 her mother and step father seperated... I do feel for her ... |

Yes - grown-up ones! The youngest was 18 when I met OH (11 years ago), the other 2 already at university. They are all very different, but all lovely people. Middle one is having some problems at the moment and has become very withdrawn. Thought at first he might have a problem with me but don't think that is the case. We don't see them that often but my life would be poorer without them! |
